Karl Boerner is the founder and creator of the business and was the baker/operater for twenty years thereafter. Click on the Our History... page for more information.
Both Karl and Christine Boerner have roots in Germany / Austria and worked for years in Switzerland. Some of our products are traditional, but, like Christine, many of the products we carry are “first generation”: made with the same style of tradition and heritage. Donuts, Muffins, Cupcakes & other American Classics are all made from scratch with a Swiss influence. Our Seasonal products are all traditional and have been passed down from Father to Daughter and from Master to Apprentice; those products rotate throughout the year and with the holidays.
Donuts, Danish, Muffins & Croissants we MAKE EVERY DAY. WHATEVER you order, we will make FRESH FOR YOU. Quiche, Coffee Cakes, and Pastries are kept on a two or three day rotation. Cakes we will keep for up to four weeks frozen.
While we do have a set of products that are made consistently throughout the year, we make additional seasonal products that ebb and flow with the holidays.
Gluten Free - We do make naturally gluten free items: Coconut Macarons, Almond Macaroons, Almond Horns, Meringues, Flourless Chocolate Cake, Toffee, Truffles, Chocolate Covered Strawberries.
All the Gluten free items we make are traditionally made without flour, meaning that we did not need to substitute with miscellaneous ingredients,thusly maintaining the integrity of the recipe and resulting in delicious, Gluten free treats.
Dairy Free - Our Crusted Pies are Dairy free, other than that… we use A LOT OF BUTTER… in EVERYTHING.
Sugar Free - We do not make any sugar free items. At Karl’s we stick to the traditional recipes.
If you do want to ship some of our items we suggest our coffee cakes, the Alligator, or our seasonal butter cookies.
You would need to ship same / next day and mark the package as "Fragile & Perishable". Make sure the recipient is aware that they are receiving a time-sensitive package..
A gluten free product is a product made without wheat. We do have items made without flour, however our facility is completely contaminated with gluten. We DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone with SEVERE GLUTEN ALLERGIES to eat at our facility.

Kronuts are a hybrid croissant – donut: a donut dough, laminated with butter like a croissant, then fried like a donut. We then fill the flaky pastry with a delicious cream. The staff favourite is the Lemon-Basil.
We freeze the cakes to make sure that the quality stays fresh; it also ensures safe transport in the unpredictable Arizona Weather so that the cakes will not reach the "Danger Zone" while sitting out before your family gathering.
